CODMAN ACADEMY CHARTER PUBLIC SCHOOL, DORCHESTER, MA — Our renovation of the historic Lithgow Building for Codman Academy Charter Public School was awarded LEED Gold certification by the USGBC. This project converted a formerly vacant retail building in the heart of Codman Square into a K-8 school. Creating healthy and invigorating environments for learning was our primary design goal.

Good air quality, access to natural light, and acoustical privacy were key components to our design approach. Floors, ceilings and walls keep both mechanical and reverberation noise down within the teaching spaces and were constructed to meet the LEED for Schools acoustical prerequisite requirements. Mechanical spaces are highly efficient displacement systems and all new light fixtures are LED. Read more about the school.
