MDS was engaged by a Boston-Based Business School to reimagine an existing made-to-order, full-service cafe into a “third space” building amenity that offers a self-serve market and coworking lounge space.

The design team worked with the school to establish furniture and finishes to give the space an elevated hospitality aesthetic while meeting sustainability and durability standards.

Project scope also included improvements to the adjacent entry lobby with the addition of a new security desk and furnishings that support collaborative work.

The renovation met the school’s Green Building Standards and enabled continuous occupancy of Teele Hall throughout construction. Collaboration with the school’s food service provider and Siena Construction was essential in creating a successful final design. Delivered on a fast-track schedule, the new Bistro opened in January 2023.
